Celebrating Children’s Literature at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

Since it’s a holiday, let’s take a break from worrying about th publishing industry and focus on the festivities! Before we get down to it, though, I have a confession to make — I have not seen the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade in almost a decade. I know, I know, it’s practically Un-American for me to miss it every single year, but my high school football team used to play a Thanksgiving game and as part of the marching band, I always missed the coverage – and then it just became habit!

This year, though, I’m definitely going to make an effort to get up on time to see the parade on television, because I’ve been inspired by Bookriot’s recent round-up of fantastic book-inspired balloons!

This one’s definitely my favorite of the bunch — I have such a soft spot in my heart for Arthur! — but you should go and check out the rest of the images on BookRiot to get in the mood for the big day tomorrow!

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! We’re taking a break from reader responses this Friday, but be sure to get a hold of us through Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, or even in the blog comments, and we’ll feature someone next week!
